God has blessed our family more than we ever expected, and so much more than we deserve! He has given us 3 beautiful blond haired girls by birth and 2 more boys, and 1 more daughter through the blessing of adoption. So very, very blessed!

Bouncy Balls

This week my friend Cherri shared a recipe for bouncy balls on Facebook. It did not appear that she had tried it herself but was posting it to remember to try it later. It looked easy enough so I though we would give it a try. It called for these items and water.
As I was typing out the recipe to share it with you I realized that we had actually made the bouncy balls wrong! This is the recipe that was online.

(Each recipe makes one bouncy ball.)
You need two disposable cups
One stir stick
2 Tbsp HOT water
1/2 tsp. of Borax
1 Tbsp of Glue
1 Tbsp of Corn Starch
Food Coloring (optional)

This is the recipe I made with the Kids...

You need two disposable cups
One stir stick
2 Tbsp HOT water
1/2 tsp. of Borax
1 tsp. of Glue
1 tsp. of Corn Starch
Food Coloring (optional - we skipped this cuz we had green glitter glue)

Pour the water & borax into the first cup and stir until it is dissolved.

Pour the glue, cornstarch, and food coloring into the second cup and mix. Then add the mixture from the first cup into the second cup.

Let the ingredients sit for 15 seconds & then stir. Once the mixture becomes difficult to stir, scoop it out of the cup, and quickly roll it into a ball. (There will be liquid left in the cup.) Also do NOT smoosh the ball like play-doh. You need to roll it into a ball and keep it that way. This lesson was learned the hard way by one of my kiddos.

Or Bouncy squares if you have a non-conformist child.

SOOOO.... after my discovery of my mistake I went back and quickly made a new bouncy ball of my own to see if the correct recipe worked better. I used regular old white glue and added blue food coloring. The result was interesting! The new bouncy ball had far less bounce than the wrong recipe ones. I was gonna post a video to show you, but it won't load. Grr... So my mistake recipe was actually better!

This was a fun activity, and I am glad that we gave it a try. I am also glad I did not follow the recipe correctly because they turned out better! It was not too messy, so give it a try yourself! And make sure you follow THIS recipe!
